Methuselah
by Brad Scott
The son of Enoch, who walked with God, was named Metushalach (מתושלח). The name given to this son is not happenstance, and was not chosen in a baby names book. Given the ages of the sons of Adam to Noach, we know that the flood came when Metushalach died. This son's name is a combination of two very familiar Hebrew words. The first part is mut (מות), the word for death. The second part is shalach (שלח), the word for sending or bringing forth. The word is in the masculine and means "his death shall bring forth". Are we starting to get the picture?
The next word is Lamech.
